For the second consecutive year, RIG Consulting, Inc., was named to the ‘Entrepreneur 360™ Presented by Pacific Life’ list, identifying the “Best Entrepreneurial Companies in America.” RIG checked in at #116, up over 200 spots (#351) from the 2018 list.
Established in 2005 by Sharmon Winters and certified as a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) in January 2007, RIG provides complete construction management, including inspection, design support and surveying services. Projects have included work with the Port Authority, Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority, Port of Erie, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

RIG was also a recipient of the 2019 Pittsburgh Business Times Fast 50 award, honoring the fastest-growing, privately-held firms in Western Pennsylvania. The move up the rankings coincides with RIG growing into one of the largest DBEs (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) in construction management. The past year was highlighted by serving as a primary consultant for a group paving project on several roads for PennDOT District 11.
Honorees were identified based on the results from a comprehensive study of independently-owned companies, using an algorithm built on a balanced scorecard designed to measure five metrics – innovation, growth, leadership, impact and business valuation. RIG ranked highest in innovation, leading the way in the development of technological innovations on construction inspection and surveying projects.
