The project includes the reconstruction of four existing lanes of I-78, drainage improvements, guide rail, fencing, landscaping, message sign boards, signing, delineators, and pavement markings. There will also be construction of three drainage culverts extensions, new construction of five precast concrete sound barriers, one retaining wall, replacement of three dual single-span pre-stressed concrete Bulb-Tee bridges, one single-span pre-stressed concrete Bulb-Tee bridge, two single-span pre-stressed concrete spread box beam bridges, and other miscellaneous construction work. The project will also include the addition of a third “truck climbing lane” eastbound and westbound just east of PA 737.

RIG Consulting Inc. is a subconsultant for the agreement, providing Construction Inspection services through two Transportation Construction Inspector – 2 and a Transportation Assistant. Inspection and documentation services included concrete pavement patching, concrete pavement spall repair, diamond grinding of mainline and ramps, pavement relief joint rehabilitation and reconstruction, sawing and sealing of concrete pavement joints, Type 1-S shoulder widening, guide rail and end treatment upgrades, median crossover overlay/reconstruction, pavement marking and delineation items, signing, milled shoulder rumble strips, structure preventative maintenance items, MPT, multiple classes of excavation, class 1 & 4 geotextile, flowable backfill, 2A subbase, milling, superpave asphalt paving, ATPBC, placement of LLCP, concrete pavement cores, thermoplastic and steel pipe, RCP, manholes and inlet boxes, end walls, top and grate placement, and pavement base drains.
