The purpose of the Potters Mill Gap Transportation Project was to improve safety, reduce congestion, and alleviate access concerns along the section of Route 322 from the Centre County/Mifflin County line to west of the Route 322/Route 144 intersection at Potters Mills. The project widened the road from two to four lanes and included the installation of a roundabout. Structural work included three new bridges, two MSE retaining walls, two overhead sign structures, and two DMS structures.
RIG Consulting, Inc. as a subconsultant, provided Construction Inspection services with a Transportation Construction Inspector – 3. Inspection and documentation services consisted of E&S control items, presplit blasting, excavation, subbase, SAMD (base, binder and wearing courses), SMA wearing course, drainage work including pipe, drainage structures, 100-year pipe inspections, cured in place pipe liners, bridge approach slabs, guide rail, concrete glare screen, median barrier, ROW fencing, signing, pavement marking & delineation, highway lighting, and roadside development.
